1. Describe the effects of radiation exposure in an embryo. 10
2. Describe the effects of radiation on normal tissues with emphasis on effects on the 10 skin, GI mucosa, lungs and spinal cord.
3. What are free radicals? Explain the indirect effect of ionizing radiation in a 10 biological system
4. What are the different types of ionizing radiation induced DNA damage? Explain 10 briefly the DNA repair mechanisms.
5. a) What is the annual dose limits prescribed by ICRP for occupational and 5x2=10
public exposure. Do these include the exposures due to natural background radiation and medical exposure?.
b) Explain briefly how will you control internal and external hazard?
6. Give a block diagram of typical medical linear accelerator and explain its 10
features.
