SECTION-A (15 marks each)

1 . describe 'Management' and discuss the different functions that constitute the process of management.

What is meant by 'Scientific Management'? discuss the main elements of scientific Management.

2. What do you understand by planning? discuss the merits and limitations of planning and suggest measures to overcome the limitations of Planning.
OR
What do you understand by organisation structure? discuss with the help of diagram the 'Line', 'Functional' and 'Line and Staff' kinds of organisation.

3. a) define Abraham Maslows need Hierarchy Theory with the help of a neat diagram?

b) A management consultant when asked to report on the causes of low productivity and sagging employee morale in a company, submitted the subsequent report after interviewing a cross part of the employees working in the company

1 . Wages: Most employees feel that the management is just not interested in revising the wage rates. Where as profit earned by the company an registering a steady increase, the wage rates continue on to be those fixed 4 years ago.

2. Working Conditions: Shop floor workers are the worst sufferers due to sub-standard working conditions. Most of the machines are old am outdated which decrease the output per worker. Since wages are paid on time basis without any incentive for extra output, workers are working leisurely with outdated machines. The atmosphere on the shop floor is uncongenial. There is a lot of noise, heat and dust.

3. Managerial behaviour: Members of Management look down on workers There is absolutely no rapport ranging from them. To weaken the union the management has authorised the senior foremen to recruit new worker from among those whom he knows well and suggestions and grievance of workers are seldom provided any attention.
