He picked up 1 of the sticks and broke it with his hands. Then he picked up 5 sticks and tied them together. He gave the bundle of sticks to his strongest son and said, “Break them”.
The young man could not break the bundle of 5 sticks. Then the farmer said, “It is easy to break 1 stick. But it is not easy to break 5 sticks if they are together”.
