Part A (Applied Phonetics)

I. 1 Transcribe the following passage phonemically and mark primary stress :

Many of us pride ourselves on writing and speaking plainly. Yet anyone who studies the English language soon comes to realize that a great part of even the plainest speaking is far from plain. Very often do we say things that are not meant to be taken literally, word for word that that is.
