I .
1. Define harmonic distortion and discuss the need to suppress it.

2. What is the drawback of class B amplifier? What is the remedy?

3. List the merits of negative feedback amplifier and prove any 1 through derivation.

4. Classify oscillator according to frequency, active devices used and phase shifting network used.

5. In which region of the output characteristics curve, BJT is operated to function as a switch? discuss.

6. Draw the Eber Moll model of BJT and discuss its use in BJT analysis.

7. Differentiate voltage time base from current time base and compare their performance.

8. Discuss the need for LPF in a PLL with the help of circuit diagram.


II.

1. Draw a transformer coupled class A power amplifier circuit and discuss its operation. Prove that its maximum efficiency is 50%.

2. Draw a double tuned BJT amplifier and discuss its operation. Why stagger tuned amplifier was brought to use?


III.

1. Draw a current series BJT amplifier and derive the expressions for its closed loop voltage gain, input impedance and output impedances.
Or

2. Draw an oscillator which uses 1 BJT for amplification and 2 inductors and 1 capacitor for tuning circuit and discuss its operation. Derive the expression for the frequency of oscillation.


IV.
1. For a 2nd order system explain the behaviour for ramp and pulse inputs.
Or
2. Draw a Schmitt trigger circuit using BJTs and discuss how does this convert any analogue signal into a digital one. explain with a single supply source only.

V.

1. Draw the circuit diagram of bootstrap time base generator and discuss its operation. How is this superior to its counterparts?

2. Draw the internal block diagram of 555 and discuss its use as a astable multivibrator.What is done to get a square waveform?
