(B.Tech fifth Semester,2121)
Time : three Hours Maximum Marks : 60
NOTE:- This paper consist of 3 parts. part A is compulsory. Do any 4 ques. from
part B and any 2 ques. from part C

Section-A Marks : 20

1(a) Differentiate ranging from the following:
(i) Instruction, M/c and clock cycles.
(ii) Assembler and compiler
(iii) Object and source Programs
(iv) op--c-ode and operand
(v) ROM and RAM
(vi) Hardware and Software interrupts
(b) discuss the functions of ALE and IO/M signals of the 8085 microprocessor.
(c) What is stack and discuss how it operates ?
(d) What is the difference ranging from 8085 JMP and call instructions ?
(e) discuss the use of subroutines. What should be the salient features of a good subroutine ?

Section-B Marks:5 every

2. Draw the block diagram showing the architecture of 8085 microprocessor. discuss the function of its organs.
3. what is the need of knowing so many addressing modes of 8086 ? discuss the different modes in detail. explain their applications.
4. discuss the architecture of Motrola 68000 microprocessor.
5. discuss the architecture of a keyboard with an 8086 microprocessor.
6. (a) State the advantages of segmention(memory) in 8086 based system.
(b) With the help of examples, illustrate the use and the meaning of the subsequent instructions:
AAA, LAT, WAIT

Section-C Marks : 10 every


7. explain the comparison of the important characteristics of intel eight bit, 16 bit and 32 bit microprocessors.
8. For an 8086, write an assembly language program:
(a) To obtain the largest of 12 unsigned bytes.
(b) To compare 2 strings stored in memory locations starting from STR1 and STR2 every 100 bytes long. The program should branch to an fault subroutine in case of mismatch.
9. Write short notes on any 2 of the following:
(a) Interrupt system of 8085
(b) I/O data transfer techniques
(c) Parallel v/s serial transmission
(d) 8089 Processor
