I. (a) describe operating system(OS)?What are the different kinds of
operating system?

(b) Differentiate among Parallel,Distributed and Real-time systems

II. (a) discuss UNIX system system commands, which manipulate files and
directories and control processes, with the help of examples.

(b) discuss the security choices available under standard Unix systems,
including user IDs,passwords and the use of Owner,Group and World

III. (a) discuss the use of subsequent Unix commands:

(i) rm,ls,cat,head,last,du
(b) What is a "pipe"?Give an example of a pipe and tell what it does?

(a) Comparison ranging from Unix and Windows OS.

V. (a) discuss the purpose of a 'Shell' program.
(b) Write a shell script to check whether a number is a prime or

VI. What is Unix System Administration?Explain the subsequent in the situation
of administering Unix Systems:

(a) Adding and removing user accounts

VII. Write an AWK program to count the number of times every word is used in
a provided text file.[Marks=18]
