1. Explain any 5 of the subsequent literary items in about 60 words each:
(1) Historical Novel

2. Bring out in your own words the significance of the title of the novel,
'Pride and Prejudice.'

Attempt a character-sketch of Elizabeth Bennet in 'Pride and Prejudice.'[Marks 15]
3. (a) Write a brief summary of 'Evelyn Hope' or 'The World is Too Much with Us'.
(b) Answer in about 100 words on any 2 of the subsequent questions:
(i) Give in your own words the central idea of the sonnet ' To His Dear Friend.'
(ii) How does the Sonnet 'On His Twenty 3rd Birthday' reveal John

4. Compare and contrast the characters of Sergius and Bluntschli in G.B.
Shaw's play 'Arms and the Man.'

5. Explain with reference to the context:
(a) See more strange comfort every state attend,
