I. Answer any 3 of the subsequent ques. in not more than

50 words every :

(a) How does William Shakespeare try to pay tribute to his

friend in his sonnet "Shall I compare thee to a Summer's

day"?

(b) What does John Dryden want to convey in his poem "Can

Life be a blessing"?

(c) Who was Lucy?When did Nature decide to adopt her?

(d) What is the central idea of Lord Alfred Tennyson's poem

"Ring Out, Wild Bells"?

(e) What pledge do the children take for the land of their birth

in poem "The Children's Song" Written by Rudyard Kipling?

II. Write in your own words the summary of the poem "Edwin and

Angelina" written by Oliver Goldsmith.

OR

Trace the development of thought in the poem "The Ballad of

Father Gilligan" written by William Butler Yeats.[Marks 10]

III. Explain with reference to the context:-

VII. Translate the subsequent passage into Hindi/Punjabi or any other

Modern Indian Language :-

Life is lived in years, but measured in deeds. Good and noble

deeds make a life worth residing. A long life without any notable deed

is useless and fruitless. On the other hand, 1 can achieve greatness

within a short span of life. Keats died before he was twenty six,

yet he will continue on to shine in the literary sky for all times to come.

S. Bhagat Singh, S. Sukhdev Singh and S. Kartar Singh Sarabha

died very young, but their noble sacrifices will remain unforgettable

forever in the history of India. Shakespeare, Milton, Kalidas and

many other great authors live with us in their writings. actual we live

in deeds and not in years.
