a)    Describe the construction of SCR with neat sketch also draw- its symbol.

b)    State & explain the specification of SCR.

c)    List the factors required for selection of heat sink used for SCR.

d)    Draw and explain the characteristics of SCR.

Q.l B) Attempt any ONE of the following:    06 Marks

a)    Describe the step up and step down chopper with neat diagram.

b)    Explain with waveforms the constant & variable frequency system for chopper

control.

Q.2 Attempt any FOUR of the following:

a)    Draw' circuit diagram of single phase fully controlled Full wave converter with RL load & explain its workmg.

b)    What is the effect of source impedance on performance of 1 phase fully controlled bridge converter?

c)    Draw' circuit diagram 3 phase fully controlled bridge converter with R-L load.

d)    Differentiate between single and three phase controlled converter on the basis of no. of SCR, current capacity, application and cost.

e)    Draw* neat diagram of cycloconverter for speed control of 3 phase induction motor.

f)    Describe the operation of speed controls of 3 phase induction motor using variable frequency variable voltage method.

b)    Explain with circuit diagram the application of SCR for VAR compensation in power system.

c)    Draw the circuit diagram of single phase half and full bridge inverter.

d)    With the block diagram describe the function of SCR static excitation system for alternator.

e)    Compare series and parallel inverter on the basis of circuit components, current rating, type of communication and type of O/P waveforms.
