Part A
Q1. A coil having 50 turns is rotated at 1000rpm in a magnetic field having a uniform density of 0.1T. The axis of rotation being at right angles to the direction of the flux. The mean area per turn is 30cm2.­ Calculate: the frequency, the period and the maximum value of generated EMF.

Q2. If the waveform of a voltage has a form factor of 1.15 and a peak factor of 1.5, and if the peak value is 4.5 kV, compute the avg. and the r.m.s values of voltage.

Q3. A coil having an inductance of 0.2H and negligible resistance is connected across a 100V a.c. supply. compute the current when frequency is; (a) 30 Hz; and (b) 500Hz.

Part B
Q4. A coil of inductance 0.1H and negligible resistance is connected in series with a 25 ohm resistor. The circuit is energized from a 250 V, 50 Hz source. Calculate: (a) the current in the circuit; (b) the p.d. across the coil; (c) the p.d. across the resistor; (d)The phase angle of the circuit.

Q5. A 130 ohm resistor and a 30µF capacitor are connected in parallel across a 200V, 50 Hz supply. Calculate; (a) the current in every branch; (b) the resulting current; (c) the phase difference ranging from the resulting current and applied voltage.

Q6. A circuit, having a resistance of four ohm, an inductance of 0.5 H and a variable capacitance in series, is connected across a 100V, 50 Hz supply. compute (a) the capacitance to provide resonance; (b) the voltage across the inductance and capacitance; (c) the Q factor of the circuit.
