QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR MANAGERIAL DECISIONS

1. (a) The sum of the pay of 2 lecturers is Rs. 1600 per month. If the pay of
the 1st lecturer be reduced by 9% and the pay of the 2nd be
increased by 17%, their pays will be equal. obtain the pay of every
lecturer.

(b) Solve the subsequent system of equations using matrix inverse method.
2 x + 3y – z = one ; x + 2y +3z = four ; 3x – y – 2z = 5

2. (a) discuss the concept of a limit of a function

(b) if the marginal revenue and the marginal cost for an output, x of a
commodity are provided by :

MR = five – 4x + 3x2 and MC = three + 2x
and if the fixed cost is zero, obtain the profit function and the profit when
the output is x = 4.

3. (a) State different measures of Central tendency and explain their merits and
demerits.

(b) discuss the concept of Skewness and explain different measures of
Skewness.

4. (a) discuss the collection and primary data by different methods and explain
their merits and demerits.

(b) describe co-efficient of variation and discuss its use.

5. (a) A box contains six red, four white and five black balls. A person draws four balls
from the box at random. obtain the probability that among the balls
drawn, there is atleast 1 ball of every colour.

(b) In a bolt factory, machines A, B and C manufacture respectively 25%,
30% and 45% of the total output. Of the total of their output 5, four and 2
percent are defective bolts. A bolt is drawn at random from the lot and is
obtained to be defective. What is the probability that it is manufactured
either by machine A or B ?
