Note: Attempt Five Questions in all. Question No. 1 (Section-A) is compulsory. Attempt any two questions form Section B and any two from Section C. All Questions carry equal marks.
Section A
Q-1. (i) Explain Type- I and type-II error. (5x4=20)
(ii) Differentiate between cluster sampling and stratified sampling.
(iii) Explain different types of measurement scales
(iv) What are parametric and non-parametric tests?
(v) Differentiate between multiple regression and discriminant analysis.
Section B
Q-2. Explain different techniques of sampling and also factors affecting sample. (20)
Q-3. Explain the research process. Also explain the exploratory and causal research. (20)
Q-4. (a) The average number of apples which are out of order in a sample having size 100 is 35 with standard deviation 5 apples. Obtain a confidence interval of apples which are out of order when the level of confidence is 5 percent. (10)
(b) A drug is given to 10 patients, and the increments in their blood pressure were recorded to be 3, 6, -2, 4, -3, 4, 6, 0, 0, 2. Is it reasonable to believe that the drug has no effect on change of blood pressure? (10)

Q-5. (a) What is reliability and validity? Explain different techniques of reliability testing. (10)
(b) Explain any two comparative and two non-comparative scales. (10)
Q-6. What are the methods of data collection? Explain the process of questionnaire designing. (20)
Q-7. (a) Explain with examples factor analysis and cluster analysis. (10)
(b) A certain drug is claimed to be effective in curing cold. In an experiment on 500 persons with cold, half of them were given the drug and half of them were given the sugar pills. The patients reactions to the treatment are recorded in the following table: (10)
