1. Attempt any one:

(a) From the data provided beneath compute the value of 1st and 3rd quartile, 2nd and 9th deciles and forty 5th and fifty 7th percentiles.

(2) Ten film-stars in a beauty contest are ranked by three judges in the subsequent order.

2. Attempt any one:
(1) The number of defects per unit in a sample of 330 units of a manufactured product was obtained as follows.

(a) Compute the quadratic pattern by the lowest square method.
(b) Forecast the production for the year 1996.

3. Attempt any 2 :

(1)A bag contains two white balls and 3 black balls. 4 persons A,B,C and D in the order named, every draws 1 ball and does not change it. The 1st to draw a white ball, receives Rs.20. Determine the expectations.

(2)A margarine firm has invited 200 men and women to see if they can distinguish margarine from butter. It is obtained that 120 of the women, but only 108 of men can distinguish margarine from butter. Investigate whether there is any evidence of sex difference in taste discrimination.

(3)If 4 squares are chosen at random on a chess board, obtain the chance that they should be in a diagonal line.

(4)IQ test was administered to five persons before and after they were trained. The outcome are provided below:

4. Attempt any four:
(1) elaborate the properties of a normal curve?
(2) 4 cards are drawn at a time from a pack of 52 playing cards. obtain the probability of getting all the 4 cards of the identical suit.
(3) How time series can be analyzed ? How time series techniques can be used in forecasting?
(4) Write a critical note on standard fault.
(5) provide any 2 purposes of classification of data ? State the primary rules to be observed in classification.
