HU-104: HUMAN VALUES, IPR & ETHICS

Marks: 45 marks    Time: 3 hours

Note: Attempt any five questions.

1.    Discuss the six steps followed in the process of grant of a patent.    (9)

2.    Elaborate the three methods of Transfer of Patent Rights.    (9)

3.    What are the six subject matter of Copyright? Elaborate the rights of Broadcasting Organization and Performers Rights with respect to Copyright.    (9)

4.    Write short notes on:

(a)    Revocation of Registration of Trade Mark.    (4.5)

(b)    Conditions for an information to become a Trade Secret    (4.5)

5.    (a) Explain each of the three levels in Kohlbergs theory, discussing the associated stages in each level and illustrative behaviour at each stage. Use practical examples to substantiate your explanations.    (6)

(b) In conceptualizing Trust as a human value, there are five key dimensions that underlie the concept of trust. Mention any three of these dimensions; explain the meaning of each and its significance with practical examples.    (3)

6.    (a) Explain each of the 5 need categories in Maslows need hierarchy, discussing the practical significance of each of these categories using suitable examples. (5)

(b)    These five need categories have been further classified into two broad categories or orders. Name these two divisions and explain their meaning. (1)

(c)    Discuss what, according to you, could be one important limitation of the theory.    (1)

(d)    Maslows basic hierarchy has been modified by adding two new categories of needs. Name and explain these two need categories.    (2)

7.    Are human values, morals and ethics relevant in todays world?    (9) Discuss this statement in detail using your own analysis and judgment.

(Hint: Reflect on various aspects of this statement. Refer to any related theoretical concepts that you may have studied, or any issues related to this that may have been discussed in class presentations. Use suitable examples.)
