(b) Why is iodine solution prepared by dissolving iodine in concentrated potassium iodide, increased in molarity with standing? Write the balanced net ionic formula that accounts for this increase.

11. Write a short note on physiological buffers.

12. elaborate the important factors that contribute to the quantative extraction of a species? Why a number of extractions with a small quantity is preferred to a single extraction with the identical total quantity of the solvent?

part - C

Note : Attempt any 2 ques..Each ques. carries 18 marks.

1. Write a detailed account of the potentiometric titrations involving oxidizing and reducing agents citing suitable examples. elaborate their advantages over visual titrations?

4. Refer to Attachment

SECTION - B

SECTION - B

8. Write balanced net ionic equations to describe the followings :-

(i)                 Reduction of Ce4+ to Ce3+ by Mohrs Salt.

(ii)               Oxidation of I- to I+ by KIO3.

(iii)             Titration of H2O2 solution with KMnO4.

SECTION C

4. (a) Define chelate and conditional formation constant. Why are multidentate

ligands preferrable to unidentate ligands for complexiometric titrations?
