Unit one

1. explain the constitution of criminal courts and their offices. State their powers under the criminal procedure code, 1973.

2. What is meant by anticipatory bail? Under what provisions of legal regulations it may be claimed? By which courts it can be granted? Can you cite a few Supreme Court judgments on the matter?

Unit two

3. Examine in detail the circumstances under which a spouse is entitled under the code of criminal procedure, 1973 to claim maintenance from her husband. What is minimum quantum of maintenance and how it is fixed? Whether maintenance pendent lite may be awarded? Cite case legal regulations in support of your ans.

4. explain the meaning and importance of the "First info Report" (FIR). In what way the evidentiary value of FIR is greater than that of any statement recorded by the police in the course of investigation?

Unit three

5. What is "Charge"? elaborate consequences of a defective charge? When a court may alter or amend a charge? discuss with examples.

6. State the provision in the criminal procedure code relating to procedure to be followed by the court of Sessions in trial before itself.

Unit four

7. explain the circumstances in which there shall be no appeal against an order of conviction and critically examine the rationale of not allowing any appeal in such cases.

8. State briefly the facts and principles of legal regulations laid down in Amar Nath V. State of Haryana, AIR 1977 S.C. 2185.

Unit five

9. The Report of a probation officer is treated as confidential. Whether it can be communicated to the offender? If yes, when?

10. explain the working and distinctive features of the Juvenile court as to the procedure followed in the trial of Juvenile offender under the Juvenile Justice Act, 1986.
