Ql Write the drawbacks and advantages of each type of viscometers (5)

Q2. Explain which heat exchanger will be better a) cooling jacket types, b) Internal cooling coil c) external cooling coil.    (5)

Q3. A fcrmentcr must be kept at 27C. The maximum heat transfer rate is 550 k\V. Cooling water enters at 10 C and leaves at 25 C. The heat transfer coeff. for the broth is 2150 UVm2oC. The heat transfer coeff. for the cooling water is 14000 W/m2oC. A cooling coil of outer dia 8 cm, thickness 5 mm and thermal conductivity 60 W/mC is to be installed. Average fouling factor is 8500 W/m2oC. Find the length of cooling coil required for the purpose.    (10)

Q4. Find out whether the given heat exchanger is suitable for growth of 50 g'l of cells in 10L bioreactor working at 37 C. The overall heat transfer coeff. is 1355 W/'m2 C. The sp. oxygen uptake rate is 5 mmol Os per gm per hour. The cold water circulatcd in the heat exchanger enters at 10 C and leaves at 25 C.    (10)
