(a) Outline the procedure for fixation and revision of minimum wages.
(b) describe the terms 'strike' and 'lockout' as used in the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
When does a. strike or lockout become illegal?
(c) explain briefly the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 relating to employment
of young persons.
(d) discuss the concepts of minimum wage, fair wage and residing wage.
(e) Write a note on Employees' State Insurance Corporation.
(f) describe 'retrenchment' and provide the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act
relating to retrenchment.
(g) Write about the workers' entitlement for Annual leave 'with wages under the
Factories Act, 1948.
2. ans any 3 ques. within 200 words each: 10×3=30
(a) What is the procedure for certification of standing orders? explain the concept of
and need for standing orders.
(b) Examine the rules for payment of Bonus under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.
(c) Enumerate and discuss the benefits to insured workmen under the Employees'
State Insurance Act, 1948.
(d) Write on the salient features and provisions of the Employees' Provident Funds
and Misc. Provisions Act, 1952.
(e) discuss the provisions of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 relating to (i) rate of
gratuity, (ii) maximum gratuity and (iii) forfeiture of gratuity.
3. ans any 3 ques. within 300 words each: 15×3=45
(a) Write a detailed note on the Authorities for and procedure of settlement of
industrial disputes under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
(b) The Payment of Wages Act, 1936 provides that wages are to be paid in a
particular form, at regular intervals and without any unauthorised deductions.
Explain.
(c) Examine the employers' liability for payment of compensation to a workman
under the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923.
(d) Outline the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 relating to health and welfare of
the workers.
(e) describe Trade Union. Mention the provisions relating to registration of trade
unions and its benefits under the relevant Act. .
