Throughout history man has been changing his physical environment to improve his way of life. He has altered many of the physical features of the earth using the tools of technology. He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farmland. He has constructed lakes and reservoir for irrigation purposes and for harnessing hydroelectric power. Man has also replaced the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to lay roads and railway lines. However these modifications have not had beneficial outcomes. Today, pollution of air and water is a growing and alarming threat to the health of the planet.

5. A) Write a snippet of not more than 200 words about the N.S.S. activities of your college. 5
