1. (a) Simplify the Boolean function F in sum of product using don’t care conditions d:
F=Y’ +X’ Z’
D=YZ + XY
(b) Make a K-Map for the subsequent function and express the function F in standard SOP form.
F=AB +AC’+C+AD+A’BC+ABC
(c) What are the laws of Boolean algebra. discuss using truth table or algebraic expression.


2. (a) Implement a Full-adder circuit with 2 half adder and an OR gate.
(b)Show how 2 3x8 decoders with enable input are connected to form a 4x16 decoder.
(c) Design 1x8 multiplexer.

3. (a) Show that a JK flip flop can be converted to a D-flip flop with an inverter ranging from the J AND K inputs.
(b)What is a Shift Register? discuss the working of a 4-bit bidirectional shift register

4. (a) How do you classify memories in a computer system?
(b)Explain different addressing modes.

5. (a) What is the difference ranging from hardwired control and micro programmed control?
(b)Explain the meaning of DMA and why it is desirable in a few cases.

6. (a)What is the difference ranging from strobe based and handshakes based communication?
(b)What is Interrupt? Why we use interrupt vector table?

7. (a)Write short notes on any 3 of the following:
(i) Floating point representations
(ii) Virtual Memory Organization
(iii) Control Memory
(iv) Encoders
