Description for Scrabble
Scrabble is the best-known of all word games. Scrabble is played on a board divided into 15 x 15 small squares. More than a quarter of the squares carry premium values. There are 98 letters in the form of tiles that fit the squares. every letter is marked with a value inversely proportional, or nearly so, to its frequency in the English language. A, E, L and T are typical 1-point letters, Q and Z are 10-point letters. The distribution of tiles matches common usage, thus there are ranging from 4 and twelve of every of the 1-point letters but only 1 of every letter valued five points and above. 2 blank tiles complete the set. These have no point value but can be substituted for any letters.
All tiles are shuffled face down or in a bag and every player draws 7 tiles. Racks are given to the players to hold the drawn tiles. The rest of the tiles are left on the table or in the bag to form the stock.
The 1st player combines 2 or more of the letters in his hand to form a word, which he lays on the board so that 1 letter covers the center square. Thereafter every player on his turn adds 1 or more let4ters from his hand to the game array so as to form new words. Crossword principles are followed. Interlocking words are made across and down, no word may be placed in isolation and letters may not stand adjacent to 1 a different unless they form words.
The letters of every new word made, including any letters that were previously played, are scored, the score being adjusted appropriately for any premium squares covered in play. Premium squares, which are regularly distributed about the board, are of 4 kinds: they double or triple the value of the letter played on them or they double or triple the score of the word(s) of which the letter forms part. The rules make clear which kinds of word are and are not admissible but 1 can have a dictionary on hand to settle disputes. A bonus of 50 points is gained if a player places all 7 tiles in 1 turn.
Instead of playing letters on the board, a player may on his turn elect to exchange any or all of his tiles for a like number from stock. Throughout the game players replenish their hands from stock after every play. The game ends when the stock of tiles is exhausted and either 1 player empties his rack or no player can make a work with any of his remaining tiles. A player who goes out adds the values of his opponent’s unused letters to his score. It is usual to keep progressive scores in Scrabble so that players are aware of their position at any time.
Perform the subsequent tasks: (4.0 + 4.0 + 6.0)
1. Identify and write the brief description for an EBP level use case.
Note: The name of the use case must be clearly specified, without which no marks shall be awarded for this task.
2. Draw the system sequence diagram (SSD) for the identified use case in (1) above.
Note: If SSD is drawn for any use case other than the identified 1 in (1) above, no marks shall be awarded for the task.
3. For 1 of the nontrivial input system events identified in (2) above, draw the sequence diagram.
Note: The name of the input system event must be clearly specified, without which no marks shall be awarded for this task. The input system event should be 1 of those identified in (2) above. Otherwise, no marks shall be awarded for the task.
NOTE: every task above carries an additional two marks for usage of accurate forms of names, notation etc. The syntax and semantics of OOAD using UML must be followed at any cost. (2.0 + 2.0 + 2.0)
