(a) As English is an international language it is needed in different fields and different situations by different people because of the requirement of a certificate of proficiency in English for admission into a few institutions in foreign countries as well as in India. This means that a minimum score in Test of English as a Foreign Language is needed for a person to apply to such institution. Sedulously, students have to work very hard if they have to move ahead by leaps and bounds. The score needed varies from institution to institution, universities to universities and colleges to colleges. All students whose 1st language is not English must be able to give latest evidence that their spoken and written command of the English language is needed for the programs for which they have applied. Here by all means and in all possible ways the proficiency in the language is needed by the students. This is needed in order to ensure that the academic progress of the students is neither obstructed nor hindered by the language difficulties and that the students are able to integrate socially very well in the society. There are also many other areas where the proficiency in English language is needed. When an individual faces his higher authorities or his superiors he should be able to articulate properly and clearly so that he may not be discombobulating the persons concerned. He should be confident, sure, certain and positive.

(b) The decision to create the Management and Technology master track was strongly influenced by signals from the world of business, indicating that it would be welcomed if science students would be more aware of the complexities of social organization and the business environment when entering the labor market. The decision to create the Management and Technology master track was also strongly influenced by signals from the world of students as it would make them learn the social complexities of the professional world. It also answers to the needs and interests of students who are more interested in applied research than in basic research. The Management and Technology track hopes to cater to the needs of those who are planning to leave the university with a Master degree to go out in the big corporate world and commence their odyssey with great élan. subsequent the Management and Technology track, however, does not preclude the choice of doing a PhD in (applied) science. It also does not stop them from doing their higher studies in any of the sciences. Moreover, much research needs to be done precisely in the field where science meets society. In fact, staff involved in the Management and Technology track is also involved in the different research programs in which several students with a science background carry out PhD projects in the area of innovation management and different other prominent areas.
