In a certain city a thief was caught in the act ofStealing onions. Then the constables took him and bound him, and brought him before the kings court of justice. On hearing the evidence the magistrate said to him: Now, my good fellow, yoou either pay a fine of one hundered rupees, receive one hundered lashes with the whip or eat one hundered onions. We will not let you free otherwise

The stupid fellow replied; I will eat the onions, So he set about the task. But when he had eaten Seven or eight, he cried: I cannot eat them. I prefer to have lashes. But after they had given him a few strokes with the whip he began to cry, Stop, Stop! I cannot endure this. Ill pay hundred rupees and the interest. So he made himself the common laughing Stock.
