PART A-(10*2=20)
1. What is the condition for discrete time signal to be periodic.
2. If the sequence x(n) is provided by x(n) = { 1, 1.5, .5, -.5, one } sketch x(2n) and x(n/2).
3. What is the z transform of a sequence an u(n) including the ROC?
4. Write the Circular correlation property of DFT.
5. Why FFT is needed?
6. calculate the DFT of a sequence x(n) = { 1, -1, 1, -1} using DIT algorithm.
7. describe FIR filters? elaborate its features?
8. elaborate the limitations of IIR filters?
9. How data memory is organized in TMS and ADSP signal processing chips?
10. elaborate the functions of the memory mapped registers available in TMS processor?

11.(a). List the status register bits of 5X and their functions and elaborate the On-chip peripherals in 5X and discuss their functions.
(Or)
(b) . discuss the memory organization and bus structure of a typical ADSP signal processor.
12.(a) Check for causality and stability y(n) = n2 x(n).and obtain the solution to the subsequent linear constant coefficient difference formula y(n) -3/2y(n-1)+ 1/2y(n-2) =(1/4) n n=0 with initial conditions y(-1)=4 and y(-2)=10. (Or)
(b).Given a linear shift invariant system specified by the difference formula y(n)+1/2y(n-1)= x(n)-x(n-1),n=0.

(i). obtain the frequency response of the system
(ii). obtain the magnitude and phase response. And also sketch them.
13. (a).Find the z transform of the subsequent discrete time signal including ROC x(n) = cosw0n for n =0. & By using partial fraction expansion method obtain the inverse z-transform of H(z) = (-4+8z-1)/(1+6z-1 +8z-2)(or)
(b) Using linear convolution obtain y(n) = x(n)*h(n) for sequence x(n)={1,1,1,1,-2,-2,-2,-2,1,2,3,4} and h(n) ={1,-1,1}. Compare the outcome by solving the issue using overlap and method & overlap save method.
14. (a). obtain the DFT of a sequence x(n) = {1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1} using in-place radix two decimation in time and radix two decimation in frequency algorithm . Follow exactly the corresponding signal flow graphs.
(b)Explain the decimation in time FFT algorithm. & From 1st principle discuss the periodogram method of spectral estimation associated with a discrete random process.
15. (a) explain the merits and Demerits of the FIR filter.& Convert the analog filter with sytem Ha(s) = (S+0.1)/(S+0.1)2 +9.into a digital IIR filter by means of impulse invariance method.(Or)
(b). Derive conditions to be satisfied by a casual digital filter to exhibit linear phase response. & explain the design procedure of FIR filter employing windowing technique.
