iii) What is an aquifer?
iv) What are minerals?
v) What are the types of mining?
vi) What is carrying capacity?
vii) Differentiate renewable and non-renewable energy sources and give an example of each.
viii) What are shelterbelts?
ix) What is a food chain? Give an example?
x) Define Ecological succession?
xi) Differentiate in-situ and ex-situ conservation.
xii) What is Biomagnification? Give an example.

2. Write explanatory notes on any five. (5x5=25)

a) Causes and consequences of Deforestation.
b) Solar Energy.
c) Water Logging.
d) Universal energy flow model.
e) Biogeographic habitats of India.
f) Endangered species.
g) Acid rain.

PART-C

Answer any three questions. (15x3=45)

3. "Development leads to destruction". Substantiate with special reference to dams.
4. What are the agents of soil erosion? Suggest suitable soil conservation practices.
5. a) "India is a Mega-diversity nation". Amplify.
b) What are hot spots of Biodiverstiy? Mention the Indian hot spots.

6. a) "Noise is a sinister threat". Substantiate with reference to auditory and non-auditory effects of noise.
b) Give the noise standards recommended by CPCB.

7. "Population, consumerism and waste production are interrelated". Comment.
