The 5th semester of the Gujarat Technological University in the stream of Aeronautical Engineering has 7 subjects. The paper trend are all the identical and 1 has the subsequent subjects Composite Materials and Smart Structures, Flight Mechanics, Fundamentals of Turbo M/cs, Management-II, Aircraft Structure-II, Computational Fluid Dyanamics-1 and Operation & Maintenance of Aircraft. The paper has five ques. of 14 marks each, making the total marks of the paper 70. The ques. paper is to be answered within three hours.

What is thrust augmentation? How is water injection used for thrust 07 augmentation? Explain in detail.

Explain after burner system and nozzle of general electric J-85 engine with fig of 07 afterburner and fuel system components.

Which are the different types of welding used in the repair of aircraft? What 07 precautions should be taken to ensure that the weld work is perfect? Explain method of repair of fuel and oil tanks by welding.

Why pressurization of cabin is required? Describe any pressurization system with 07 figure.

Which all DC power sources are available in the aircraft? What precautions 07 should be taken to maintain lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries in good working condition?

What is the purpose of 3 Phase tachometer system? Explain with the help of a 07 diagram. Why do we use 400 Hz instead of 50 Hz commonly used in our daily life?
