PART - A

Answer any ten of the following :

1.    Write a note on collective bargaining.

2.    Explain the term Award under Industrial Dispute Act.

3.    Amalgamation of Trade Unions - Procedure.

4.    Write a note on Labour Court.

5.    Write briefly the provisions relating to labour welfare.

6.    Write a brief note on Maternity leave.

7.    What is the object of the Workmens Compensation Act ?

8.    Occupational Diseases.

9.    Write a brief note on The Child Labour Act 1986.

10.    Write a brief note on the rules relating to annual leave with wages under the Factories Act.

11.    Explain briefly what are the Benefits under ESI Act, 1948.

12.    Write about Nomination under payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. (10x2=20 Marks)

1.    Can the University be termed as Industry ?

2.    An Industrial dispute was there between the employer and the workmen of a company. The workmen made a request to the appropriate Government for the reference of the dispute to an Industrial Tribunal. But the Government turned down the request. After some time, the Govt. at without any change in the surrounding circumstances of the dispute, changed its opinion and referred the dispute to the Industrial Tribunal for adjudication. The reference was challenged by the Employer. Decide.

3.    In a premises a manufacturing process is being carried on without the aid of power in two shifts employing 15 workmen in each shift. Is it a factory ? Give reasons.

4.    A - a person was employed in training, keeping or working elephants by B - a circus company. While training, he was killed by an elephant. Decide. (4x6=24 Marks)

Answer any three of the following :

1.    What are the objectives of the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 ?

2.    What are the objects of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 ? Discuss.

3.    Write briefly the important provisions relating to labour welfare under the Factories Act, 1948.

4.    Explain the term award and settlement and distinguish between them.

Is the liability of the Government to publish award mandatory ? (3x12=36 Marks)
