1. A) Attempt any six of the following :    12

a)    Draw logic diagram of IC 74181 and give name to pins.

b)    State the important function of IO/M pin of 8085 microprocessor.

c)    Compare Randomly Accessed Memory (RAM) and Sequentially Accessed Memory (SAM), (any two points)

d)    If 8085 microprocessor system has two memory chips of 1K x 4 and two memory chips of 2K x 8 then what will be the total memory size in the system ?

e)    Define encoder. Enlist various types of encoders.

f)    What is the functional difference in unidirectional buffer and bidirectional buffer ?

g)    Write truth table for 8:3 priority encoder.

h)    What is ROM ? Give its classification.

c)    Draw the diagram of single digit BCD adder using IC 7483. Write the importance of adding 0110 in this diagram.

2. Attempt any four of the following :    16

a)    What are the different types of instructions with reference to number of bytes required to represent an instruction ? Explain these types with one example.

b)    Compare memory mapped I/O and peripheral (I/O) mapped I/O. (any four points)

c)    Explain the role of memory in microprocessor system. Write different characteristics of memory.

d)    Draw the format of RIM instruction and explain each bit.

e)    Specify the contents of accumulator after execution of each instruction. Also specify the status of carry flag.
